View Full Version : Marine Fish Tank - anyone else have one?
Does anyone have a marine fish tank on here? If so care to share pictures?
Mine had a crash just after I moved up here but I am hoping to restore it to its former glory...

Love the microscope pictures. They're fantastic. Are you using a digital microscope or did you point the camera down the eyepiece?
stunning pics
Thanks - I love my tank :)

Yep I started it up down south - there's no shops up here at all that sell corals :( The problem with buying up here is it's all off the internet and the couriers can't even confirm 48 hour delivery, let alone 24h...
The tank was thriving that much that I started taking 'cuttings' from the corals and selling them on the net - made back all the money it cost to set it up.
Maintenence - pretty much the same as a tropical tank, if not a little less. There's no filters to clean - the rock and critters are your filter and clean-up crew. Fish only is easy but as soon as you start adding corals you get into chemical balances and dosing chemicals - gets a bit complicated.

The photos were taken with my phone camera down the eyepiece - nothing high tech at all :)
Wow its beautiful! I love marine fish, Clown Fish have always appealed to me, but the time has never come round to own a marine tank just yet.
Our family had one when I was born, apparently I used to sit in front of it for ages and watch the fish when I was younger. Maybe that's where my love comes from!
Thanks for sharing your photos.
You have a lovely set-up. Could you tell me what size and make you tank is please? Have thought of setting up a marine tank but worried about possible power cuts during winter.

It's a D&D 24 gallon all in one tank. Power cuts are always a worry - I have plenty of bubble wrap on standby...

Hi there
There is a marine shop in the highlands which sells marine fish and corals. All you need basically and if he does not have it he will order it in for you.
Here is the link to his web page. www.planetocean.co.uk (http://www.planetocean.co.uk)
My marine aquarium and stock came from them.
Regards
