Hi

Does anyone have any ideas where in Caithness you could indulge in a bit of off road 4x4 trials, you know the sort of thing trying to get your muddy jeep up a steep hilll or through a deep ditch.

Are there any greenlaning clubs in the county?

Hmm

Not really what I was thinking of
That palce I think you go along and drive their vehicles!!
I am looking to take my 4x4 along to sone wasteland and have some fun, just thought there may be a club in the area that all took their vehicles along.
Might be worth emailing that crowd though to see if they know anything.

Perhaps you should check http://www.hbro.co.uk/Greenlaning/Greenlanes.htm/ as they should have lanes which are in use.

I used to enjoy a bit of 'off roading' and for many years subscribed to Land Rover Owner but recently my opinion of greenlaning (an oxymoron to me now) has changed after seeing the damage caused by 4X4 vehicles to tracks I used to travel.

They became so ploughed up that even the local farmer could not get along them in his biggest tractor. While responsible 'off roading' is fun and needs care not to damage the lanes, too many people have 4X4s nowadays and think they can just go anywhere with them, at anytime of the year.

Even when the local council put a stop notice on one, the 4X4 brigade insisted on ploughing it up even more. They actually had the nerve to get a Freelander on a test drive and promptly spent four hours digging it out of the very lane which had the temporary notice on....
