Entertainer Jailed For Faking Disability

A man who said he could barely walk and claimed £35,000 in benefits while secretly working as a children's entertainer called Wavey Davey has been jailed.

Former gymnast David Simpson pocketed Disability Living Allowance after telling officials he was "virtually invalid" for at least nine years.

Chapman said he received some "glowing references" in court, but the judge decided his conduct was too blatant and opted for a prison sentence of 24 weeks.

Not long enough in my opinion as he is giving real Disabled people a bad name.

Yes, he should have been made to pay the money back. Putting him in jail for 24 months will cost us more than the £30 odd thousand that he stole from the tax payer in the first place.

I agree, it's people like this that cast a shadow over others claiming disability that do actually need it.
