Slowly but surely I am digging out my old images and collating them onto one drive for storage.
While I'm at it I'm uploading many as they may be of interest for someone.
The images are as originals and not altered or amended, also the whole folder is there so the blurred, fuzzy and plain crap are all there too.

As before, the good, the bad and the ugly are in there. And still not Caithness related

i like them, i like them all, they all have a story ....

how high were you for this shot ? how big was that pallet ?!
is that line of trees meant to hide the unsightly jobbie treatment plant from the drivers and is that were you were heading along the MSC ?

nice photos all of them, the scale of the fire especially had me mesmerized

cheers

Glad your enjoying them Nacho!

The aerial photos were generally taken around 2000ft ish, sometimes a little higher for wider shots over the city, sometimes 1500ft but mostly 2000ft.
The shot posted here was probably at joining or circuit height so could be around 1200ft.

That pallet was huge:Razz It was a CHEP storage yard which after wards had bigger spacing between pallet stacks as seen below to try and slow the spread of fire.

The pallet fire was the largest peacetime fire the brigade had attended, over 120 firefighters if memory serves. There was another pallet yard fire just down the road a short time after and then a fridge recycling yard fire too again soon after. The arsonist was caught I think.
I'll find the photos from them too soon enough.

As for the trees I really don't know, maybe a planning regulation.
The MSC photos cover the entire length of the canal, the cruise started at Salford Docks and ran all the way to Liverpool where the canal joins the River Mersey. It's a big album, around 400 images.

Nice to see the MSC pic, I have sailed up and down it a few times.

Nice shot of the pallet fire! That fire fighter gives it a dramatic sense of scale!!

Thanks dafi

That one image out of the whole set really does give a visual cue to the scale of the fire, it is my favourite image out of them all. The aerial appliance itself is a fair size but it looks like a toy there.

This is a shot taken from that appliance once the fire had been taken under control and effectively became a huge BBQ:

The white area in the bottom left of this image is a stack of fridges & freezers stored ready for recycling:
