Press Release

A9 Berriedale - Surfacing Works Under Full road Closure

Overnight carriageway surfacing works will take place from Monday 4th October 2010 for 3 nights.

Due to the location and nature of the operation (on a steep incline with a sharp bend) the works can only be carried out safely under full overnight road closure.

The overall construction phase is programmed over 3 nights, Monday to Wednesday, between 22:00hrs to 06:00hrs.

Local access for light vehicles will be given when safe to do so. vehicles granted access will be escorted through the works area.

There will be no access for HGV's, although access will be provided at all times for Emergency Services including Coastguard and Lifeboat Sevices.

Scotland TranServ, who are carrying out the works on behalf of Transport Scotland, the Scottish Government's National Transport Agency, are fully aware that the works under full road closure may cause some inconvenience and offer apology for this. The overnight closures are however essential and necessary due to challenging location of the works area.

Road users should pay specific attention to closure times and consider both journey time and timing of journey.
