There is a yacht currently berthed in Scrabster , the RX2 which is on its way home to Norway after circumnavigating the North Pole by the Northwest passage over two seasons. This is the first circumnavigation of these waters by a standard fibreglass hull yacht, rather than ice-strengthened ones.
The original aim was to do it in one season but they were taken to court by the Russians for sailing through their restricted fishing zone, even though that was the official yacht channel.
They were in court for three weeks, fined $100 each and missed the ice window to do the trip in one season so had to put the boat ashore in Alaska over the winter.
When they restarted next season they found out that the Russians had sent a boat to do the one season circumnavigation so that might explain the three weeks in court !

I thought the boat looked a bit battered, now I know why.

The ex-racing boat is loaned by its owner to whoever wants to do something daring and adventurous.
