I recycle my jam and pickle jars for a jam maker who sells her wares for funds for Crossroads. I always make sure they are label free and have been through the dishwasher.

Over time I have discovered some labels come off best if soaked in cold water until they float off, others need the jar filled with hot water to free the glue, others need cold water in the jar.............trouble is I can never remember which jars need which treatment.........a senior moment, or am I forgetting something basically scientific?

I just put mine through the dishwasher and most of the labels come off in it!
Just clean out the filter afterwards:lol:
Any that dont a squirt of wd40 does the trick...
But do you need to remove the labels for the bottle bank?
As that is where mine end up...its mostly the peedie babyfood jars I have..

Not sure about the bottle bank as never use it. All my jars go to Crossroads for the ladies who make jam and preserves to sell at their coffee mornings.

I should write a list on the calendar which jars need which treatments as I can never remember.

Wilkins jams must put theirs on with superglue, as even your dishwasher trick left them in pristine condition, just a bitty crinkled.
