Hello, does anyone live in the Berriedale area? I have decided to move my imaginary castle to an isolated spot along your coast. This is so my story so far fits in better with the real environment that I have set my novel in.
Does anyone have any suggestions of a good position for me.
Thanks in advance, Lola:D

There are two rivers which meet in a rocky gorge just upstream from the north road at Berriedale, the Langwell and the Berriedale. One of the rivers is fast flowing and rocky with several high waterfalls which the incoming salmon have to ascend. These fish are long, lean bars of silver and have adapted to jump over the obsacles. Their cousins in the other river are of a shorter and sturdier build because this river holds deeper and stiller water and they have evolved quite differently over the centuries. Where the waters meet under the crag the returning fish part like hairs below a comb as they run the river to their spawning beds.
This place has been occupied by men since first they pushed northwards over the Ord of Caithness......

O.K over to you!

I can't believe that some one finally said anything about Berridale, (thanks by the way) I thought that no one lived there or knew anything about it. But all information is greatly appreciated as it helps me put a picture together of the area.:D

Look at Dunbeath castle on the cliffs not far from Berriedale.

Thanks Ann,
that site shows a good overall veiw of the type of landscape, just what I was looking for as a setting. But the funny thing is that I spent a heap of time looking at the site, as we have a semi trailer transport business in Australia, so I was into looking at the truck stops and the other transport info there. Got a bit side tracked there for a moment.
