Thon broomhead reminds me of a story from 'Doonreay'. A local worthy worked in the changing rooms, a VIP was passing through with all the 'heid yins' in tow, worthy was leaning on his broom and the VIP asked 'I bet that broom has covered a lot of floor', the worthy replied , 'aye i've hed the same broom for twenty odd years, changed the handle 5 times and the broom head 9 times'. The VIP walked off happy with his reply, everybody 'held it in' until the VIP passed through, the VIP must have heard the sudden outburst of uncontrolled laughter from all who overheard.
