Highland Challenge selection process and the first of our monthly competitions.

The season starts with the Selection process for club entries for the Annual ‘Highland Challenge’ an interclub head to head competition. – Members submit their best images for consideration as part of the club’s entry to the competition between camera clubs across the Highlands. In the past this has involved Orkney, Shetland, Thurso, East Sutherland, Dingwall, Cromarty, Inverness and Nairn.

So bring along you best work for consideration for this year's challenge.

The second half of the evening the Monthly Competition: this month the subject is the 'Open' category, where you can bring in images that you are proud of for a head to head with the other club members. As this months category is 'Open' the sky's the limit and can be on any subject you want.

Hope to see you there

Hi everyone,

The next meeting of the Camera Club (1st Nov) is a visit to Caithness Stone Industries at Spittal, to see how they transfer digital photos onto stone and other materials.

The start time is 7pm, so please meet at Miller school between 6.30 and 6.40pm to arrange car sharing/lifts. The premises are just on the outskirts of Spittal, on the left beside the 50 MPH sign. There is a sign right beside the road.

Hope you can all make this meeting, it sounds really interesting.

Tonight's planned guest Bob Kerr has had to cancel his talk sadly due to a Family Bereavement, our thoughts are with him.

Weather permitting our Chairman Colin Gregory has kindly agreed to step in at the last minute and will show some of his travel and wildlife pics. There will also be a showing of all the Highland Challenge entries and revealing of our marks (unfortunately we did not win).

As per programme, the second half of the evening is a critique. So please bring along 4 pics on a memory for tonight if you would like you work critiqued by our panel.

If the weather takes a big turn for the worse, a decision will be made on Monday afternoon about cancelling the evening. So check this site around 6.30pm tonight (6th Dec) for an update which I shall post if the meeting is cancelled.

Tonight, weather permitting, we shall be embarking on our Night time photoshoot, so you should bring your cameras along and a tripod if you have one.

We shall meet as usual in the art rooms of Miller Academy at 7 for a 7.30 start to discuss the methodology involved before deciding where we shall venture out to for the photoshoot.

Last year we went to Scrabster Harbour and were blessed with a fantastic still clear night (T-shirt weather) and had a very successful and fruitful nights photography.

Usual venue (see first posts on this thread for details).

Tonight's meeting is a change to the advertised TCC Website's schedule instead of local photographer Robert MacDonald we are honoured to have Bob Kerr on the subject of Photography in extreme conditions.

Bob was to appear earlier in the season but due to adverse weather conditions his audience couldn't make it!!!!

Bob relates his experiences in climbing the world’s highest mountains and trying to take photos with 3 pairs of gloves at minus 20 degrees!

Should be a really interesting meeting.

Part two of our evening is a competition and this month's category is on the subject of 'Open' which really means that you can enter photographs on any subject (Note: images already used in earlier competitions this season are excluded).

Hope to see you all there.
