Is anyone else out there slightly toubled by the events surrounding the deportation of these three men? With the news today that a witness was found dead - suicide? and rumours of the FBI operating in this country putting pressure on this man, it makes me wonder who is running the show here?

I think it's surprising that the civil rights groups who normally get very excited when illegal immigrants are about to get deported have maintained a total silence........ but then again, these deportees are British, and white, and at least at one time, were clearly wealthy.

The whole thing is a cock-up - another example of the UK rushing through legislation while the rest of the world sits back and thinks. These men have committed no crime in the US; their alleged involvement was in the UK. It's extraordinary than British citizens can be simply flown half way round the world on the say-so of a foreign prosecutor. Imagine the French (or the Americans, come to that) doing it to theirs? That said, any one of us here can be deported to any EU country on the strength of a warrant signed by a magistrate, so careful with that drink, Eugene, when on holiday in Yurp :lol: .

As for who's running things here - that's easy. Not the Americans, and not the Government. It's the media. The Government simply does / says what the media wants, eventually. And most people seem to believe what they read in the Sun or Mirror or Express or whatever, which is unfortunate.

It is what you get as a country that has favored relations with the US.... funny (?) how GWBush is so mixed up in the Enron story and yet has excaped unscathed.
