Got a message on Interpals from a chap from Ghana. Nice guy and that but there was one thing that I got a tad frustrated at

which part in England is Wick?

Well there is a Wick in the following Counties in England :-

West Sussex
Worcestershire
South Gloucestershire
Devon
Gloucestershire

So perhaps he thought that is where you lived, in one of them.

It is not reasonable to expect someone in Ghana to know or care about Scotland.

Must admit I'm pretty ignorant of African political geography myself.

Before getting too indignant, how many of us can name Ghana's capital city without looking it up? It has a population of two million souls, Wick has a population of less than ten thousand souls.

If you can name its capital, can you point to its location on a blank map of Ghana?

How many of us can even point to Ghana on a blank map of Africa?

Im sure the effort that i took in finding this picture will not go unnoticed. I had to download a picture, edit carefully in paint, reset my photobucket details, upload the image then post to here. I at least deserve a "well done" and bucket loads of good rep;)

I have to agree with Crayola, its a valid point.

It is unlikely that you knew off the top of your head where Ghana is and you have still failed to point out and name the Capital City...
It's quite easy to be ignorant without even realising it nowadays. Something we should all think about...

Ok so if you should know Accra is the capital, i cant remember the exact figure but the city has around 2 million population.

If you would like me to disprove my ignorance further i can show you on a map of Ghana the location of Accra but i dont have time to show off my geography skills all day.

Are you suggesting that the inhabitants of Ghana should know the location of Wick and view it as important information in the thier day-to-day lives? If they do not know it, im sure it is not because of ignorance on their part.

The people of Ghana have enough to deal with without having to know the relevance of Wick to the UK.
For those that do know I applaud them, for those that do not know well, as much as it offends, especially when they say we are in ENGLAND ([evil]England once did some bad stuff in a war that we will never forgive them for) they can be forgiven.
