Back in JOG working for the season, top ten list of grockle questions so far this year:

In reverse order:

10:Q: (Pointing to Stroma) Is that the Isle of Lewis?
A: No that's Stroma!

9: Q: What is an Orkney?
A: A group of islands.

8: Q: Do you sell Welsh tartan?
A: Do what?!

7: Q: Can you always see the Shetlands so clearly?
A: Only if you have super human eyesight!

6: Q: Can you use english stamps here?
A: Yes!!

5: Q: Where is the anvil?
A: Err.... Gretna Green!

4: Q: Where is the town centre (of JOG)?
A: Your in it!

3: Q: Oooh, you're not Scottish, where are you from?
A: Originally, Devon.

2: Q: Do you actually live here?
A: Yes I ACTUALLY do.

1: Q: What has happened to the hotel?
A: This is the only sensible question I get asked and I wouldn't mind a decent answer myself, totally lets JOG down.

I agree about the hotel - I stayed there two or 3 times some years ago doing a package with the ferry - 2 nights dinner, b & b, and day trip round Orkney. I liked it then - but now, it is a sin! Is there any word 'locally' about it?
