I have my father staying with me for a week and he has brought his fishing tackle (Sea) with him.

Can anyone suggest where is the best place, around Thurso, for him to go.
The problem is that he has restriced mobility, so scrambling around rocks or long walks to waters edge are a no go for him.

All replies are most welcome

Castletown end of Dunnet beach is meant to be good, I believe. Not too far (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=thurso&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Thurso,+Caithness,+United+Kingdom&gl=uk&ei=QkRdTLq6DMj44Abzq8XRBw&ved=0CCAQ8gEwAA&ll=58.593979,-3.376236&spn=0.013015,0.03489&t=h&z=15) to get to the sea either.

the old Ola pier at Scrabster is good when the tides in, plenty of mackerel about just now ...

however the pier was closed yesterday, but when it's open, you can take the car along to the end.

Tugs might be able to advise when the pier will be open to the public for fishing ...

Thanks both for your replies. Scrabster sounded perfect but obviously not at the moment. Is there anywhere out west around Melvich for example that would be suitable does anyone know?

Just wanted to say thanks again for all the suggestions. We went down to Scrabster tonight and my father enjoyed a couple of hours fishing off one of the piers - and even managed to catch a few fish!
