Hello!

having recently moved into the area from england, i need childcare for my 3 year old, i was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for day care for my child, also if there are any waiting lists and costs.

many thanks!

All the local nurseries will take children from age 3 for 2 and half hours most have a choice of a morning or afternoon class, However if you are looking for more that just nursery classes you would be better looking for a childminder . There is a afterschool club called treats but i am not sure if they take children as young as 3 .

For the nurseries there isnt any waiting list as far as i am aware however at this time of year it will be a case of finding one that has places left .

I can highly recommend Little Nippers which is based at the Wick Family Centre at Bank Row, Wick.

They are one of the few places that do wraparound care so will look after children all day!

My son had a funded playgroup place there in the mornings and i used to pay extra to have him looked after in the afternoons. The staff are brilliant, can't recommend them highly enough!

If you are coming through to thurso then there is Treats, they do before and after school care, always loads for the kids to do, especially during the holidays if you have to work. My little one goes to the Casper Club in castletown and they regularly have get togethers with Treats and go on joint outings. She is 3 and has been going since she was 2 and loves it. You can get more info on casper and treats on www.nosca.org.uk (http://www.nosca.org.uk)
