Compost Query

I've just shredded a load of those evergreen coniferous bush-type tree things, and I'm wondering is it OK to compost, or even to use as a mulch as it is?

Any help appreciated.:)

If it's salmonberry, I'd say dump it out, as the tiniest piece of it will soon put out new shoots
