apt username!

most laptops have a Fn button that when pressed in conjunction with one of the F1-f12 keys 'switches' between the lappy screen and an external monitor. look for the symbol of two screens on one of the F keys.
then hold the Fn key whilst pressing that [F?] one as well.

you counld also try putting a monitor on the laptops VGA socket to see if it works on an external screen.

if it works on an external screen the its probable the inverter for the laptops LCD screen [backlight] has gone

quite common.

you can get new laptop screens from Ebay. info on fitting them can be found on the net.

it might well be an idea to do a hard reset on your laptop, it won't wipe anything or harm anything but it might reset it.

with the lappy on, [look for lights flickering etc]

press and hold in the power button till it goes dead.

then wait 30 secs
and repower it as normal

see if that works.

do you get anything on the screen at all during the startup sequence?
