Did anyone hear this being discussed on Radio 4 today about 4.30? It is a way of dealing with sex offenders which works with them to try to ensure they dont reoffend. I thought it was really interesting. You can find out more here www.circles-uk.org.uk (http://www.circles-uk.org.uk). What really interesested mewas the bit on the Hampshire and thames Valley Page which said that

'Over the last 8 years the project has created 70 Circles. To date only one offender involved in a Circle has been re-convicted of a sexual offence.'

That sounds really impressive and maybe this is something that might really make a difference. I cant find a rate of reoffending for sex offenders per se so it might not be that impressive but I bet its more than this.

What do others think? There are no circles in Scotland so far - how would you feel about one in the highlands? Do you thinkit would work?

Here, they have been used to good effect in Manitoba, and I expect they will expand.
They seem very much worth trying, rather than going nimby on the offenders.

It's an interesting suggestion - even more so in that it seems to be working.

The volunteers must be very dedicated people.
