Anyone know what species of whale was swimming in Wick bay tonight?

Sorry, I did not notice and my house overlooks the bay. What time did you see it?

My neighbour was telling that there was a basking shark in the bay yesterday and I spent some time this afternoon with my binoculars having look, but not a sighting for me.:confused

It was about 6 o clock, it did have a large shark like fin and you could see the tail fin, so probably was a basking shark.

definitely basking sharks.
saw two today, one round at the little cove just north of wick harbour and the other in the wick bay, at about 8.30 to 9.30 am and again just now at about 9.15 pm. was trying to gauge their sizes a friend who was with me thought about 7-8 feet. was smart seeing the two fins, also saw 3 pilot whales passing the bay yesterday morning.

i took the dog for a walk last night around half 7 and it was in the bay then, i think it was a basking shark, it was swimming really slow
