The UK Government wants to reduce the number of parliamentary constituencies and increase their size to 100,000 electors in each. Caithness, Sutherland & Easter Ross has about 45,000 at present, I think.

Interesting to see the UK Government will protect the island constituencies from these changes.

The population of the Highlands is about 200,000, so probably means the region having two MPs in future.

It'll be a big patch for a single MP to cover.

So our MP will cover what? How big an area will they be expected to represent? Has anyone considered the logistics of a huge area like that in terms of responding to your constituents, travel etc. Plus the regional differences and needs?
Does nobody use their brains when they come up with this load of old rubbish [evil] Oh, I forgot, we're talking about Westminster.
