While out at Lnngberry earlier a huge transport plane flew in from the coast and over Wick. Far bigger than the usual Nimrod that is a regular visitor. A quick Google suggests it was a C17 Globemaster however I'm not 100% sure. It was a beast anyway! There were also other jets and helicopters so I guess it was a military excercise.

There's an RAF exercise being held. No idea for how long, or who else is involved.

Yup, 'tis playtime again.
If it really was huuuge then it'd be a C17 (ZZ176 for the number crunchers).

Well there's a coincidence. The Mrs and I were sitting waiting for the July 4th fireworks in Lake Arrowhead, California, last night, and a C-17 buzzed the village, flaps down and landing lights on.

PS I don't know how to make that picture look big, but you can click on the thumbnail to see it better. Wicker05's is better anyway!

Mum phoned me yesterday to tell me about this. Nice to hear 99 Squadron are stretching their legs a bit. I usually only see the C17 either when I am at work or buzzing around the circuit.

I passed the Bomb disposable unit yesterday as I was leaving wick. then I passed the human canonball rocket further down the road, and finally,.....it happens in three's.....I was behind a train at Inverness roundabout.( It was a caledonian sleeper carriage on a lorry). You never know what you will see on the roads now!!!
