My daughter is researching the family history (Campbell) and has made progress with leads at Weydale, Dunnet, Wick and Thurso. Any from the above list still in these areas? My grandfather, James Campbell lived in Smith Terrace, Thurso and drove a mail van to Tongue for many years. Anyone can contact me by e-mail
Thanks
I am also searching Campbell. See my last posting to this site under Cormack and Johnston.
I have very few links at the moment on the Campbells but would love to find out more.
Message here or email :)
The above James Campbell was born at Weydale on 22nd february 1889. His wife was a Munro, she died in the mid 30s. Her sister was married to a Bremner. Dont know where the Stevens come in. good luck in your search.BTW the old croft can still be seen up at weydale.
I have recently started researching my CAMPBELL ancestry. My ggrandmother was CATHERINE CAMPBELL b.1818 THURSO D.1906 EDINBURGH her parents were WILLIAM CAMPBELL & CATHERINE SMITH, they had seven more children-
ALEXANDER b 1812 THURSO
DAVID b 1814 "
FANNY b 1816 "
WILLIAM b 1820 "
GEORGE b 1822 WATTEN
ISOBEL b 1824 WICK
BETTY b 1827 HARLAND, WICK.
From IGI I found a possible birth record for CATHERINE SMITH- Parents - ? SMITH & FRANCIS CALDER from DUNNET
My ggrandmother CATHERINE CAMPBELL was married to DONALD GRAY from HALKIRK.
Any connections here?
Regards,
Mary
