My first lot of chicks have hatched today. 2 unaided with their mum and 2 with a little help from me... They are now all in the house under the heat lamp recovering from the ordeal!

Videos are playing up - will update shortly :)

Fascinating....My broody hens won't budge off their eggs till the chickies are hatched and even then like to keep them tucked away for a couple extra days before they present them to the world.....love chicks.....:)

I wish I could do that - mine are truely free range and have the cockrels in with them. The last lot I left in got deaded :( It's nice having them twittering away in the lounge and it makes them lovely and tame :)

Froal these are just mixed breed mongrels that are for eggs and eating.

Life - nature's way of keeping the meat fresh ;)

I'd rather eat my own than one raised in a cramped 'free range' farm

Leanne your eggs are super!
I have taken a wee break from baking after the big party as I was soo scunnered with fairy cakes but might have to bake in the hols as when away I went to ASDA for cake decoration stuff...
OOPS!
Give you a shout for eggs on rainy days!
