When we were cleaning the rabbit's hutch tonight there were quite a few forkytails in it. Yuck!! Is there anything we can do to get rid of them? Or at least keep them out of the hutch.

take bunny from hutch, empty and steam clean hutch to be sure no eggs for a start otherwise you will be over run, nasty things. Is your hutch raised off the ground?

yes but make it a very weak solution. I use a product called dynamite from avondale if you do a websearch you will find it, it is citronella based with lots of other stuff in and its great keeps flies and everything away and is animal friendly. A bottle seems expensive but 5mls makes a litre so it's well worth the money. here is the link http://www.avondaleanimalhousing.co.uk/index.html if you use the contact us button and ask about dynamite they will give you info.

I suppose you could also get these and place them around base of hutch http://www.bugspray.com/catalog/products/page1667.html

No connie neither would I. I would definately go with steam cleaning every inch of hutch to ensure they are all gone and if hutch is on the ground get it raised up. Then get some dynamite spray as a preventative.

I beg your pardon connie, forkie tails or earwigs are know in Kaitness as Golachs, its is a name used by chiels from Sutherland when they are trying to insult their betters [disgust]
