It would be so much better if he had a bigger hutch! It's doesn't look very secure, I think he wouldn't be very safe from predators. Not trying to be mean, just thinking of him :)

Maybe putting some bolts on the doors, just so no cats or foxes can get at him.

Have fun looking after him.

the door was abit open bewcause i was holding him before i took tha pic i dont live anywhere where foxes can get in as i live in the town and right infront of a road lol the door dosnt open the other way atall lol so its more sacure than it looks lol xxx

Its not just foxes that can take a rabbit!
As you are in town.. is the garden secure so that a dog cannot get in and take the rabbit?
Most cats wont but better to be safe on that front too!
I like my pets and look after them. My rabbits share a 5-6 foot hutch (have to measure it)
And have a secure run for daytime!
Is he getting better at being handled now?
I dont do pests though!

bustergirl

he is puppygirls not mine

Dadie

I know that!
He was not liking being handled much when she 1st got him.

I think hes gorgeous and I think he looks very happy and content and it looks like your doing a fantastic job caring for him so keep it up.
Buster girl I know your fantastic at caring for your animals too good on you.

Its so nice to see young people caring for and about animals its something that they should be credited for and not critisized, Kids thrive on encouragment and kindness :)

after all the critizisam bustergirl got last night she was worried all night about thumper, she went out in the pouring rain and tried her hardest to mke his cage secure as she could, we are looking after the rabbit while puppy girl is on holiday, yes i admit the cage isnt as secure as it should be, but that isnt our place to do anything, we have enough pets of our own, and thankfully we have a rabbit but he lives inside, and only goes in his cage at bedtime.

You are looking after a rabbit for someone else while they are on holiday.
You have 2 dogs and 4 cats.
The hutch is not secure.
See the problem??
Hmmn...
It is your place to make sure the rabbit is as safe as possible while its in your care!
Thankfully your girl went out and tried her best to keep him safe...
She wouldnt forgive herself if he escaped or a dog got in the hutch and had him!

dadie i think yr critizism is very unfair, the pictures of thumper were posted for everyones enjoyment and you have made a young girl worry unneccessaraly.i am sure that as intelligent people they can be trusted to look after a rabbit without any unneeded help and advice.i will say no more on the subject as i will not be involved in an online fight over a young girls rabbit.bustergirl and puppygirl keep up the good work x

Dadie

I did not say the hutch was not secure in the 1st place!
That was Sara. Then balto admitted as much herself.
In my post I pointed out it was not only foxes that would take a rabbit.
And in my last post I tried to point out its the adults in the house that have the responsibility over the animals... kids under 16 are not legally allowed to own a pet... its the adults that are responsible...
I also gave bustergirl praise for going out and trying to make it more secure.
So only give me the critism for my own posts not for what others said!
I can take critism of my actions but wont take any for what other people said!

Puppygirl - you can get halters and leads for rabbits so you can take them out for walks without worrying that they are going to go missing. I used to live in a flat and had two house bunnies, in the summer I used to sunbathe in the gardens with the rabbits on their leads able to hop around about me :)

Very Very unfair comments!!

The rabbit is being WELL looked after and I can see that clearly by the photos.

Theres some very cruel uncalled for comments by a few people!! that have been made on this thread...... GROW UP and get a life and if you have nothing NICE to write on a childrens post to encourage them.. Dont bother saying anything!!

I don't mean to be nasty, I mean to educate. As someone who has personally known a rabbit be taken from a hutch by a fox, I like to see secure hutches. Nothing is worth that finding your beloved pet gone. A few bolts do not cost a lot, and are easy to put on. I never once said he didn't look well cared for.

Living in a town is one of the most common places to find foxes. As I said, I was only trying to help keep him secure. If you post things on a forum, you should be able to take people's opinions, no matter what age.
