Depends on whether youre buying or selling and where youre moving to or from.

Depends on whether youre buying or selling and where youre moving to or from.Yes that's undoubtedly correct and it's what most people would argue about.

But low interest rates and low purchase prices in Caithness provide an alternative to rental for those who can't even consider house ownership in other parts of the country. Not only would they own their own house but it could easily be cheaper than renting.

The caveat is that those historically low interest rates are restricted to buyers with large deposits. You can get a rate of about 3% if you have 40% deposit but you will pay closer to 6% if you only have a 10% deposit. You'll be lucky if you can get a mortgage at all with less than 10% deposit.
