Help the midgies have gotten at me already this year!
The little blighters leave me with large red raised bums/lumps the size of 10p pieces.
I cannot use an antihistamine as I am still breastfeeding Euan.
I have a clicky thing but its not having much effect as it has to be used straight away.... usually cant remember which drawer its in or by the time I have sorted the kids out its too late.
I hate marmite!
What else is there to try...?
Dreading a cleg bite:eek:

I found something a while ago for at night it is a small elecric doubry that immits a low buzzing noise and keeps them away from the bedroom. I can't remember where I got it, but try ebay

The curse of Scotland.
And when I watched Braveheart and Rob Roy I was thinking - that's not Scotland.

Where's the midges driving them all crazy?

If I were rich I'd pay for industrial sized insectocutors to be placed strategically throughout the Highlands to fry the beggars.

What use is a midge?

I can only suggest Mijex Dadie. Melts the paint off carrier bags - so it disnae do the midge any good at all.

Try Skin So Soft, dry body oil spray (soft and fresh fragrance) from Avon you should find this effective. Alot of local golfers and anglers use it and find it works. It is sold in a couple of local angling shops or you would be able to get some from your local avon rep if you have one.

I will give you a laugh!
We were camping (before kids) and had a wedding to go to at Loch lomand so we got all dressed up in the tent/toilet block....
Then took the car up to the hotel (5 min walk max) thought my hubby was being thoughtful of me walking in my heels, but, NO he was worried about the midgie cloud and him in a kilt:eek:

Dadie got nibbled, she's come out in bumps
In the cool evening light it looks like she's got mumps
While Ducati has an electric device
That will knock those poor midgies right out in a trice

The wee Caithness midge is a curse on the land
Wi' big smiling face and great teeth
It's jackboots they wear when they set on your hand
And leave a big lump down beneath

Now Avon So Soft is just wonderful stuff
'Twill make all the beasties fly off sure enough
But we think Ducati has wonderful plan
With vibrating item he'll chase them, good man

The wee Caithness beastie just canna resist
A buzzing device waved about
With Avon's fine lotion about you in mist
You might get arrested, watch out

Ducati knows just where to get such machine
They come in a plain type of package that's clean
Put batteries into the end of the handle
And wave it aboot like a big plastic candle

The wee Caithness midgies will take off right quick
At the sight of a man with a vibrating stick
Just send for the Duke if those midgies bite hard
You can get a right laugh as he runs round your yard

Many years ago, before rmoving up here we were on holiday on West Coast (Lochghilphead) and I asked pharmacist what he recommended, and more importantly, what he used.

He told me that he used a 50/50 solution of TCP Antiseptic/White vinegar in a garden spray bottle.
Thinking he was taking the Michael out of a Englishmen, I was hesitant, so when applying this lotion I just put it on one arm.
The vinegar smell soon disappeared and I was amazed to find that midges did avoid the arm which was protected, and went for my other unprotected arm.

Citronella, which you can buy in an aerosol spray is also very good. If you cant find it under Citronella, ask for "Antimate " (http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/dogs/unbranded-bm-antimate-spray-100ml.asp

I will hopefully see the avon lady on thursday if I make it to mothers and toddlers for skin so soft!
Saw a repellant in the shop made from bog murtle.... is it any good?
