what would the locals recomend?

Hi,
I'm planning on visiting the Olrig area sometime this year or early next year. a short break of 3/4 days.
What would you say is the best time of year to visit?
Where would you recomend a family of four (two young kids) stay? I dont mind if it`s self catering or full board. Aslong as it's not camping. lol.

There are a couple of B&Bs in Castletown and a fair few scattered in all surrounding areas. Antoinette's at Murkle also has play equipment in their garden for the kids. Depends on the time of year you visit but during the summer I would think out of town is better as the hotels in Thurso and Wick will be full of tour bus parties and can be noisy. Have a look at the listings on this very site for a good taste of what is available (under tourist info on the tool bar at the top of the page).
