Tree Stump Grinder

We have a 6"ish diameter tree stump we need to remove but could do with a machine to make life easier
Anyone got one they would consider lending/hiring out

I have seen a pick axe used to dismember the offending vegetation by splitting the tree in half. Would this help if you could not get hold of a grinder?
