I've got a fair number for router, switch and stuff stuff but they're generally in use either for temporary configuration or permanently as out of band management.

I'm not sure if they're available locally.

I doubt Argos or Tesco would have as they're fairly specialist. You might want to try:

Jektec - 01847 890700 - info@jektec.co.uk
Alacam - 01847 896999

Theres a lot of them online at reasonable prices I tend to use Amazon for mine, try to avoid buying the cheap ones unless its a one off as I've had a few of them fail on me. I'd say mid-range or above is the way to go.

Lurking around in a box of bits I've found the very beast and, as you're helping with my recycling, it's yours gratis :D. Have managed to download a suitable driver for Win XP but if you're not using that then it appears to be Prolific brand (or compatible).

PM me for collection details (Thurso).

A true gent indeed Bobinovich. I considered venturing up to the "spaghetti" box in the loft myself 'cos I am always sure such things live up there. Power of the Org indeed!

usb <> rs232 dont work with garmin GPS's unless you buy the full RS232 converter interface from them.
you need true rs232 not the 5volt system usb uses , you need + & - 9volt rs232 level for -5 TTL switching which garmin use.

what are you trying to do

you say you are using an
dx

Yes bob I'm debating that...

The Garmin card reader wont work on Vista :( or xp for some reason gives a usb 2.0 error and crashes
