If so,have you noticed a big difference with this fitted?

Also does anybody know how i can get the water tested to see how 'hard' it is? E.G 10grains per gallon etc

Thanx in advance.

You don't need water softeners in Caithness because the water is already soft. They are for the south of England where they have chalk in their water and horrible white lumps of it in their kettles. [disgust]

Is it that you need the soap to lather more or do the minerals damage your equipment?

I think the water board can tell you the specs of the local water as they are always testing it

The bubbles my pre wash foam + shampoo would give would be better,in return removing the dirt safer:)

Also for drying the car, there would be next to none risk of having water marks which can dry into the clearcoat on a hot day damaging it!

So the softer the water the better, looking into filters also :)

are you asking about water osmosis and the filters you can get put into your house so that the water is clearer?

Think they can be quite dear, a friend of mine had a quote for £175 for one tap but then the health benefits etc are amazing .....

This is what they use in the hard water areas.
The water softner system that uses salts can be regarded as overkill in some cases. So you shouldn't have a problem with these.

The 0ppm filter is for use in soft water areas and the 30ppm is for use in hard water areas see the map below, the 0ppm filter gets the best finish in hard or soft areas but will run out much quicker in a hard area thats where the 30ppm comes into play. The 30ppm will last longer but the finish is not as high as the 0ppm filter.

No watermarks or streaks

No need to chamois dry car down

Complete with two hose lock end fittings.

Rinse and just walk away

Touchless drying = less swirl marks on your paintwork

Spot free results after rinsing

Lots of other uses: eg: motorbikes, boats, aircraft, motorhomes, hard to reach exterior windows and glass conservatories.
