A lot of interesting "login names" on the org and the thought although fleeting, struck and I wondered briefly, how we came to name ourselves?

Mine, is Commore= the area I was born.

Mine is in honour of the Crew Badge of 120 Squadron Crew 3 and the bar named in their honour .. :~(

The Nimrod lost at the Toronto airshow on September 2nd 1995 was manned by this crew, as was the one lost over Afghanistan on September 2nd 2006 .. exactly eleven years to the day later. I knew men on both jets. I figured the fact that 19 members of this particular crew have died in the service of their country was worth remembering.

The Cazmanian bit comes from when I was playing table tennis with a friend's young son - I had nearly waist-length hair at the time and he said I looked like the cartoon Tazmanian Devil doing one of his spins, except I was a girl so I had to be the Cazmanian Devil. Minx was my ex-husband's nickname for me, the two together have been my online name for so long that I kept it after the divorce.

Mine is from a Joxvillium, a rare mineral. It's brilliant iredescent colours are a mixture of tourmaline, emerald and rose quartz. It's beauty is unmatched by anything else known to man, hence my appropriate choice of name. :D

Tubthumper
03-May-10, 12:44
I used to work on the tugs at the Holy Loch, and then I had a job delivering beer to licensed establishments. However, both 'Sub-bumper' and 'Pub-pumper' were taken on the org, so I had to revert to my least favourite job of emptying buckets by bashing the bottom. Hence Tub-thumper.

I should have worked harder at school. [disgust]

The Fields of Anfield (Luke 22:39-46)

Matthew 26:36-46 (http://javascript%3Cb%3E%3C/b%3E:%7b%7d) Then Shankly went with his disciples to a place called Anfield, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” 39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” 40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41 (http://javascript%3Cb%3E%3C/b%3E:%7b%7d) “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” 42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” 43 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing. 45 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us go! Here comes my betrayer!

I heard a Kopite calling
Shankly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Shankly), they have taken you away
But you left a great eleven
Before you went to heaven
Now it's glory round the Fields of Anfield (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anfield) Road

--Chorus--All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenny_Dalglish) play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Heighway) on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Outside the Paisley Gates
I heard a Kopite calling
Paisley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Paisley), they have taken you away
But you led the great eleven
Back in Rome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1977_European_Cup_Final) in 77
And the Redmen they're still playing the same way

Chorus

Beside the Hillsborough flame
I heard a Kopite mourningWhy so many taken on that day?
Justice has never been done
But their memory will carry on
There'll be glory round the Fields of Anfield Road.

As I spend all summer - April/May to the end of September - at Cape Wrath, the name chose itself really.

I take terrified tourists from the open-boat ferry across the Kyle of Durness along an eleven mile unmade track to the lighthouse at the very tip of Cape Wrath; the well-behaved and the good tippers we also bring back. All day every day, weather, tides, military bombing and any number of other variables permitting. Every day is different, and that is a large part of the attraction.

So far this season we have encountered hundreds of red deer, birds of prey from eagles downwards, seals every day, otters and all of the usual suspects.

No 'phone, e-mail, no inter-web-net-thing, no mobile connection. Bliss.
