Hi folks
Thought you might be interested that we are riding coast to coast across the Highlands in one day in aid of the Brooke – a charity that provides veterinary care and support to working horses and donkeys and their owners in developing countries. For more information about the important work this charity does, please see their website www.thebrooke.org (http://www.thebrooke.org/). Many, many families in the worlds’ poorest regions rely on their horse or donkey for their livelihood. If their equine is unable to work, the family go hungry. The Brookes policy is to provide veterinary care for those horses and donkeys that need it, but also to help the owners to better understand how to care for them. They also local people as vet assistants who can provide basic veterinary care and welfare advice and encourage owners to take pride in their equines by organising local competitions with prizes for the best kept horse etc. A well kept, well fed horse or donkey will be happier and will in turn be able to earn more for it’s family than a weak, sore miserable one.

We will be leaving Ullapool with our horses, Zoe and Annie early on Tuesday morning (4th May) and will arrive in Bonar Bridge in the evening – a ride of approximately 55k, we think although we’ll take our GPS to check it as no one seems too sure of the exact distance! Looks like rain, but nevermind!
