Good morning everyone.

I have a lady arrived last night and is staying at the B&B who is from Perth, Australia. Her name is Margery Sutherland, and she is here out of interest in her husbands family...Sutherland, obviously, who she has information originally came from Wick. (John Sutherland b. 1786, and his son Benjamin Sutherland b. 1825, Wick...emigrated to Australia year unknown).

She is wanting genealogy information, and I will post on the Genealogy forum about that in detail, however her focus at the minute is just to meet some people and maybe hear some stories about the family in the area, to have a look round the county at some of the sights, and be able to go back home with some great memories of Caithness. She is staying until Monday. Is anyone out there interested in meeting her? If so, PM me and I'll get back to you with phone number and details.

Thanks,

Elenna

Folk reading this should maybe try and imagine what they would like if they were arriving in Australia and wanted to 'meet' & gather memories.

Hallo,
I wonder if your friend has done any Family research?

A lot of Sutherlands lived in the Latheron area. I have checked my list but dont appear to have the names mentioned.
However, a trip to Latheron old cemetery - and Clyth could be a great help.
They can also be found at www.graven-images.org (http://www.graven-images.org)

Happy hunting

I shall pass those bits of info on, trinkie and fred, and thanks for your encouragement Kingetter.

I've put what info Margery has onto the Genealogy thread (see http://forum.caithness.org/showthread.php?p=95103#post95103). It isn't a whole lot, as she has only just begun research. She had planned to make the rounds of some of the cemeteries and thought about parish records, but other than "Wick" she doesn't know a specific place :(. Hopefully some family connection will turn up, but if not she is at least here enjoying the area and the people.
