How can the Labour party go into this election with the slogan, “A future fair for all” when they’ve had thirteen years to create a fairer society FFS! What have they been doing since 1997, practising? [disgust]

They certainly don't seem to have a very fair election system. According to the poll update Sky News is doing every morning, Labour can come third in terms of percentage share of the vote, yet still have the most seats in the Houses of Parliament. How does that work??!?

It doesn't matter who gets in, we will continue to be taxed too much, public spending will drop, MP's will continue to ride the gravy train, the NHS and education will continue to suffer, prisoners will continue to have an easy life, crime victims will still be shunned, the EU will still bleed us, immigration will still be a problem, and we'll still fight in a needless war.

But you know what, I'll still keep on smiling cos they'll never be able to tax that. :D

The oaf has the audacity to "model himself" on far greater men than he could ever hope to be.

In the same way that a vote in this constituency for anyone other than the incumbent probably has little or no effect on the outcome of the election, since he's 99 per cent certain to be returned.

The voters who will decide this election, in reality, are those in the marginal constituencies.

I dont suppose any system is perfect. But at least in the Scottish Parliament system there is a greater probability of your vote counting in terms of the make-up of the parliament.

I know the ideology that underpins the Conservatives; improve society through slow change, small government, low taxes, preserve custom and tradition- the so called pragmatic approach (save I do not think they are)

The Liberals work through change in the law to level the playing field- but the emphasis is on self help so the government intervenes to set up mechanisms whereby people may help themselves- but retaining overall responsibility for their own lives. National Insurance is a Liberal idea. Broaden democracy through wider education and allow no group in society to benefiit at the cost of others.

Labour ditched socialism in 1997.
Can somebody enlighten me as to what underpins their thinking?

I really do not know.

Or is it all irrelevant anyway and we have gone down the american route and everything is issues?

Oh dear - do I detect a greater cynicism among Orgers?
Perhaps it’s time the voting papers were amended to include “None of the above” so that that we, the electorate can show our disgust with these people and their system.
Perhaps it is time for electoral reform or revolution. [evil]

You should be living down south if you want to vote for None of the Above. He's standing in Essex.

Viewed from a distance (Canada), they look like our Liberals whose goal is to campaign as far left or right as is necessary during an election and then do whatever they like. Their only goal is to win, and they have been the (federal) government here for 66% of the time.
(As yet, we do not have proportional representation)
