my fav opening lines are Warren Zevrons

I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand
Walking through the streets of Soho in the rain
He was looking for a place called Lee Ho Fook's
Going to get himself a big dish of beef chow mein

p.s been there and had beef chow mein.

One of my fave Deep Purple albums is 'Deep Purple In Rock', and I've always liked the way that 'Child In Time' starts out slow and gentle, before Ian Gillan really starts to belt the lyrics out, and the music gets louder and more intense....

Child in Time

(Blackmore/Gillan/Glover/Lord/Paice)

Sweet child in time you'll see the line
The line that's drawn between the good and the bad
See the blind man shooting at the world
Bullets flying taking toll
If you've been bad, Lord I bet you have
And you've not been hit by flying lead
You'd better close your eyes and bow your head
And wait for the ricochet

I know what you're thinking before I even post this...

"Well, I remember it as though it were a meal ago,"

Said Tommy the Cat, as he reeled back to clear whatever foreign
matter may have nestled its way into his mighty throat.
Many a fat alley rat had met its demise while staring point blank
down the cavernous barrel of this awesome prowling machine.
Truly a wonder of nature, this urban predator!
Tommy the Cat had many a story to tell
but it was a rare occasion such as this that he did:

... but seriously, it really is a good start to a really good track. (plus I've just played it about 5 times in a row, the first time I've heard it in ages) A lot of people may not like Primus, but worth looking up the lyrics, sums up every undressed tomcat you ever did see :)
