Just a thought - wouldn't a south east wind from Iceland be of more concern on wash day ?

PS: Maybe a wind blowing to the SE from the NW would be needed to get atmospheric ash to the Caithness washing line. I never was good at reading directions! I was blonde as a kid - does that count?
