Does anyone know of a weather site that is pretty much on the ball most of the time?

We're supposed to be going to Edinburgh tomorrow to take our daughters for their spine xrays but we're a tad concerned about not being able to get back even if we do manage to get to the hospital.
We'll go if the snow has been exaggerated because they had to rearrange their last appointment to now but is it going to be just too snowy?

try here for road views, the A9 near Avimore looks bad at the moment

I agree with golach. Traffic Scotland is pretty good for updates on road conditions rather than forecasting weather but it would give you the chance to see if the roads are clear for you. Good luck with it all.

I just checked out the Met Office, and according to them, things look pretty bleak tomorrow. Check it here (http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/he/he_forecast_weather.html). They don't always get it right, so hope they're wrong again. :)

Tuggs on here is usually pretty good with the weather usually spot on.

I don't know about anyone else, but my lights have been flickering on and off a few times. The wind has certainly picked up and it's not looking very promising for tomorrow.:(

Been doing the same here in Aberdeenshire. We had a power cut for just over an hour a week ago.

As anyone on the .org can tell you there is only one site that is worth going to and that is the one run by our very own Tugmistress at :-

We have a snow storm in progress in Edinburgh at the moment, no Sky signal either :(

I'd give it a miss Porshiepoo. The wind is round to the north here in Wick.

On checking the "live-eye" webcams earlier

the Slochd & Drumochter were looking none too clever.

I find they are pretty much spot on almost all of the time

I hope Porshie didn't decide to make the journey, I heard earlier on MFR that the A9 round about the Slocht is closed in both directions with more bad weather on the way.

My niece and her daughter are stuck at Dalwhinnie and have missed their connection north. Apparently there are snow drifts at Blair Atholl. Me thinks the seasons are achanging!

Thanks for all the replies.

We decided not to take the chance. I saw from the live web cams just how bad the A9 was and we just weren't prepared to risk it.
We'll just have to wait for another appointment to come through. Why we can't get the xrays taken in Wick and sent to the specialist though is beyond me.

Have you asked?

Have you asked?

Yup, but the specialist has to 'see' them.
One of them has had rods attached to the length of her spine and fair enough that the first couple of years the specialist would want to see her himself. But we know everything is fine and the last couple of checkups have simply been an Xray, 3 hours of waiting and 10 mins with the specialist saying everything is fine.
Such a looooong way to go. Still, at least we know she's being seen by the right person and it is better to have that surety.
