I'm trying to install Ubuntu, but when i boot from the disk it installs to 48% then comes up with an error saying that there's a problem with either my disk, hard drive or disk drive. Does anyone in Wick have an Ubuntu install disk I could have, see if that works?

I have a Kubuntu disc. Pretty similar but blue theme instead of orange lol

You could try downloading the ISO then burning at the slowest speed (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download). You can use Ubuntu Shipit to get a free CD but its a bit slow https://shipit.ubuntu.com/

Failing that if you have a spare USB storage device and the computer can boot from USB you can use that, try something like Unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/) to install

Also I think the install CD (last time I tried Ubuntu, I'm mainly Debian) has an option to check the CD for defects might be worth running that to narrow it down.

Also might be worth running CHKDSK on the hard drive.

Thanks, i just ran out of blank disks yesterday. I'll get some more later. And a USB stick too.

I ran CHKDSK before but to no avail. :(
