I personally would be blaming BT Lines for the problems recently. Seems to be many people using different isp's with slow and inconsistent connections that suggests to me it's BT.

Could be wrong

i always find this link useful:
http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/mso.php

just click on the BT adsl notices down the lefthand side.

this site also give a host of other useful info for those that know what to look for.

According to that site Thurso has had a degraded service (http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/mso.php?ac=bZZeeju8lD76FD3PSHdEG0Zliq2nisoFJJ79bE5 V6IcUArAylxNLdvPFFPKPwTpb) recently - I had problems but my router logs indicate all is OK now.

Thanks folks - just had a reply from virgin broadband support;

"Thanks for your email.We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

During 2009 the Virgin Media network was not able to support enough customers streaming video content such as iPlayer and YouTube. To address this we have re-engineered the network to support a much greater volume of customers using video streaming. While the volume of streaming traffic now supported at peak times has increased dramatically there is still more work to be done to address the peak time experience. We are working to try and address this and aim to deploy more improvements over the coming weeks.

We are going to be testing some new configuration that may manage the streaming traffic in a better way to improve the peak time experience."

Oh well will see what happens, but with Thurso having problems I wonder..
