My parents have never believed in mothers day or fathers day!! apparently its just a "commercial concept to make money for card, flower and chocolate companys." and "you shouldnt need them to tell you what day to tell your mum you love her" (iv had it drilled in from a young age)
But its my 1st year of being a mother on mothers day :( :( So lets hope someone will sign something from my 6 week old son hehe!!!

I thought that Mothering Sunday had been around a long time....
Before Valentines day was thought of.

My parents "do" mothers day but Dad doesnt believe in Fathers Day as it is a modern american concept used for commercialism (his words not mine).

When i was bout 16 i sent my mum a text message everyday leading up 2 mothers day saying "I love you"!!! She doesnt believe in it but would still love it if we bought her something! Or love it even more if it came the day after because she would get double the stuff! Its like half price the day after lol

I just got my mum a card and a mug that said "the best granny ever" which she wanted. I would love to give my mum the world but unfortunately i cant afford it.

As i said on another thread i got mine today, got a mug that says "Shelley - worlds best, kindest, warmest, smiliest mum" then on the others side "Lots of love and all their names" Also got 3 cards, my OH's 2 eldest made me a card each then the card my OH bought from them and Athrun too. Also got a wee bundle of pot puree aswell :)

Its my 2nd year getting mothers day presents and i love it. Last year i got a awsome present too, this year was better!

Had a lovely day!
Hubby made me breakfast in bed... which the girls "shared" with me while watching cbeebies.
Then had a nice walk at Dunnet forest with Poppy dog.
Visited Mum and Dad and Dad made us lunch and got hubby to dig up some snowdrops to take home to my garden as they have loads!
The girls were shattered and went to bed early with miminal fuss!

I got my mum a card, flowers, a soft toy (giraffe) and took her out to the carvery at the Castletown Hotel. She has everything and it's always difficult to know what to get her.

[QUOTE=Dadie;675254]I thought that Mothering Sunday had been around a long time....
Before Valentines day was thought of.

My parents always insisted on calling it Motheriing Sunday, so we immediately christened fathers' day as Fathering Sunday"

I know that feeling... so I got her scented candles... and spent 4 hours on a train to say happy mother's day in person lol. Maybe next mothers day I'll get her something a bit more out of the ordinary, but I will need to start planning now - I'm useless at gift shopping.
