I have lost half a stone since New Year by just cutting down on meal sizes. Still having treats etc. as I don't know how I would get on calorie counting.

Oh dont set me off with calorie counting.

I'm afraid to say that I count everything I eat, its the only way in which I can keep my weight down. [lol]

Most things I sadly know the amount of calories in it.

I seem to always put on half a stone over the winter these days. I've used this site before and lost the weight I wanted to lose without having to give up treats. :)

http://www.nutracheck.co.uk/

I'm using it again this year and I've lost 5lbs so far at the rate of 1lb a week without feeling deprived. Just seeing how many calories are in some foods (e.g. cheese) makes you think twice, or at least choose a lower fat version or a smaller portion. Exercise is important too, so you tend to try to do a bit more, even just small things -they all count.

I'd recommend Nutracheck. :)

http://fitday.com is another good site to track what you eat.
Whatever you do is make sure you exercise. Not just cardio but try and add some strength training (either weights or body weight exercises.)

I regulate my weight using the body mass index.

I'm about 21 on the BMI, which is fine.

I was probably in the high 20s a few years ago, which isn't healthy.

I stopped eating sweeties, crisps, fatty foods etc and exercised a lot more.

Way I look at things is you only live once so unless your are obese/morbidly obese why worry!!!

I put on weight by eating the same amount as my hubby....:(
He was losing as much as I was putting on... so now I eat slightly less than him and have cut out the sweet stuff (diabetic thing)and breastfeeding Euan and with running round after 3 kids im losing weight at last!

Problem I have is grazing as I cook... and eating kids leftovers... but the dog is now utilised in eating leftovers and her waistline is suffering for it... me and the dog may have to refrain!
I cannot go on a diet with breastfeeding as I dont want to restrict the nutrient/supply of food for Euan but will eat healthily until he is 6mths and on solids then I will try to lose 1lb a week or 2 until im happy (7 or 8 to lose!) so I wont starve and put it all back on and more!
