View Full Version : Removing mould from curtains.

Will I need to chuck my bedroom curtains in the bin or is their a product that will remove black mould marks from them.?
Have washed them with detergents and a stain removing powder at 40 but its still there.:confused

Vinegar should get rid of the mould, but you'd best do a test patch first.
Apply to affected areas, leave to soak for an hour or so, and then wash in the usual way. Don't worry, the vinegar smell will disappear when the curtains dry.

What part vinegar to water?
There cotton mix curtains in a lovely lilac shade.

I'd use the vinegar neat, and apply it with a cotton wool ball. Mind you do the test patch first, in case the vinegar affects the colour. Also the mix in the cotton could be a problem.

If the vinegar doesn't do any damage, but it doesn't get rid of the mould, try a making a paste of water and bicarbonate of soda. Leave on the affected parts of the curtains for an hour, and then wash as normal. Again, a test patch would be wise.
