I'm often accused of being ruthless at my work. I suppose I can be.

Are you ruthless?

I've been told and know that i am harsh. You just need to ask my siblings and my step siblings and they'll tell you i'm the one that will give them a verbal kick in the bum if they need it.

I don't have a Ruth handy.

Not entirely.

I've not voted on your poll btw and I look forward to some more negative rep by daring to say so. :D

Is that all you popped in to say? :)

In all honesty - yes.

Were you expecting more?

I don't know really, just wondered. :)

Good, at least I got you wondering, but let's not take this thread off topic... :Razz

No, let's!

I see threads as mere springboards for my amazingly witty and original asides.

I think not. I'm fairly original, of that there is no doubt. I'll leave the rest up to you....

There seem to be a few undercurrents going on here.

The question is very vague.

Undercurrents?

Are these a vague cousin of raisins?

Haha. A mate of mine in college dated, and later married, a Ruth. When he was free for a night out with the lads, he would tell us he was "Ruthless tonight".

I don't think I've ever been ruthless in my entire life. It's just not in my nature!

Good grief, it's 17 apiece. I expected the vote to go along nicey-nicey lines so I'm pleasantly surprised. :)

A few years ago, there was a gale that ripped the roof off me shed, so I voted 'yes'.

Plus I'm a bad-tempered, vindictive git, too.

I guess I must be 'cos I don't know anyone called Ruth.....

No, I too have a Ruth -it's my younger daughter's middle name.:)

And I'm pretty much a softie. Not a doormat however. ;)

My wife is Ruth...

Seriously though, I'm not ruthless either. I'm not fond of ruthless in the Alan Sugar or Master Chef mould.

I have read two descriptions of British Prime ministers in Cabinet.

One of them appointed ministers and backed them to the hilt - they had responsibility for their depts. In Cabinet he would sit and listen to the arguments back and forth and would never say a word. Then when all was done he would steeple his hands and say 'Right - we seem to be agreed on the following ....' and that was how they made policy.

The next one came in and kicked arse as they say. No discussions - You will do this, you will do that and if you don't you're out- quite ruthless.

By and large I like to be asked, not told- as I think most people do, so I prefer the former.
Ruthless ain't always a good thing.

I'm not a doormat either. You can still be nice and kindhearted, without letting people walk all over you.
