Just google 'weather related sayings' its comes up with lots of stuff.

I like this one:-

'Whether the weather be hot,
Or whether the weather be not,
We'll weather the weather, whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not!'

"Red sky at night, shepherds delight;
Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning"

Or, I know this isn't a Caithness saying, but thought it quite applicable for this month - so far anyway ! :-

"February brings the rain,
Thaws the frozen lake (loch !!!!) again"

If you can see Morven, rain is coming, if you can't see Morven it is raining!

Wind afore water

Too bright too early (think that means if its bright first thing it won't last)

'A green Yule means a full Kirkyard' - meaning a mild winter is not good for your health!

"Ne'ver cast a clout, till May is oot"

This is an interesting phrase but it has two meanings.

Mostly people assume it refers to the month of May but it is also believed that it refers to the flowers of the Hawthorn tree (which is also known as the May Tree) which appear April / May time.

'Ne'er cast a clout till May be out' could easily fit both.

Also it appears to be an English Proverb.

This website may also be useful for the project.

If March comes in like a lion, then it will go out like a lamb,.

An old Caithness saying. (not really, I just made it up)

If tonight your going to Spoons for a curry,
Then make sure your not in much of a hurry,
Because if your oot to have some fun,
It takes the shine if you slip onto your bum.

Two swallows don't make a summer.

Rain before seven, fine by eleven.

Or vice versa

Fine before seven, rain by eleven.

-----------------

March'll search ye, April try ye
May'll tell whether live or die ye.

-----------------

If February brings no rain
'Tis neither good for grass or grain.

-----------------

In February if thou hearest thunder
Thou shalt see a summer wonder.

-----------------

If Candlemass Day be fair and bright,
Winter will have another flight.
But if Candlemass Day be clouds and rain,
Winter is gone & will not come again.

This one isnt quite local but i like it:

"For it is more important to know whether there will be weather, than what that weather will be."

'A peck of March dust is worth a peck of gold'
Refers, I think, to conditions needed for sowing corn.
