Caledonian Canal Ceilidh Trail - Cuairt Cèilidh a' Chanàil Chaileannaich

Bill Fernie, chairman of the Education, Culture and Sport committee of Highland council joined musicians and supporters on Friday 11th July 2008 at Muirtown Basin Marina, Inverness, to promote the line up for the 7th Caledonian Canal Ceilidh Trail Band, which opens on Monday 14 July.   Caledonian Canal Ceilidh Trail is a traditional music project organised by The Highland Council's Education, Culture and Sport Service in association with British Waterways (Scotland) and working in partnership with TMC Folk and lottery funded by the Scottish Arts Council.   ... Blas Festival 2008 Launches Cultural Programme

The fastest growing Gaelic and traditional music festival in the UK is about to take to the skies as part of its new programme for 2008.  Now a notable fixture on Scotland's cultural calendar, the Blas Festival has announced it will be staging 45 events across the Highlands, including its 'highest ever show' in its smallest 'venue' - a Cessna plane flying at 3000 feet over the region.   ... Minister Visits Gaelic Drama Summer School

Highland Children's Book Awards

Voted by young readers in the Highlands, the winners of The Highland Council's Children's Book Awards were announced at a ceremony held on Wednesday 18 June in Strathpeffer Pavillion.   Winner of the top prize for the Picture Book category was Jackie Morris with "The Snow Leopard".   ... [more]
